This article explains how to import a reading list to Talis Aspire Reading Lists (TARL) as a Research Information Systems (RIS) file. This is useful when an academic may have a reading list from another source, such as a citation manager like Mendeley or EndNote. Or even if they have a reading list from a previous institution and wish to use their resources within their current university's Talis Aspire Reading Lists tenancy.
- From the My Bookmarks screen, click Add
- Select Import citations
- Add in the RIS file saved from your computer
You have the option to create a new list to import the citations into. If you import the bookmarks without adding to a new list they will be stored in My Bookmarks, where you can then move them into existing lists.
Once the RIS file has been accepted the system will process the action to input the sources to the Reading List.
The user will receive an email when this has been successful.
When importing the file into a new list the list will be within the My Lists section of Talis Aspire Reading Lists. Please note that the list will need to be edited in terms of creating sections the list and adding reading importances and notes.
Note - There is a limit of 300 items in the file, so if you do need more than 300 citations split this over a couple of files.
Note - Data imported via RIS may be overwritten by data from your catalogue where there is an LCN, ISBN or DOI available in the record.
