Talis Elevate provides academic staff and students with data on resource usage, helping to provide greater insight into how resources are being used by the cohort. This is purely here to help improve the content used in teaching and to help better support students who may be struggling with some of the content and activity being presented.

For students, you'll see information on the following:

• How long you have spent actively looking at the resource, and the class median so you can gauge how your use of this resource compares to the rest of the class.
• How many class comments have been made on the resource - again this shows your comments versus the total number of class comments for the resource.

What analytics do my academics see? 

Analytics in Talis Elevate are designed to serve 3 key purposes

1. Help academics improve their content and teaching
2. Make evidence informed decisions on the running of their modules
3. Identify who they may need to help.

Academics can see engagement activity, such as class/personal note counts, and active time engaging in resources. Don't worry, they can't see your private notes (neither can we). 

There's 3 levels of analytics academics have access to 

1. In resource (similar to your experience) 
2. At module level, giving an overview of resource usage over the duration of the module.  
3. Weekly emails; giving an overview of activity over the past week 

These analytical insights provide an overview of activity, based on time engagement, and annotation activity as a count. Academics can see this information at resource, and at individual student level. We also send a weekly email to your tutors highlighting activity on the module over the past week, and signalling students who haven't engaged with any resources for a week. 

The most important thing to mention here, is this is all designed to help make informed decisions around the running of your module, and to help students who may need more support, advice, or guidance.
