Introduction
We are often asked 'what is the time out on Talis Aspire Reading List (TARL) and can this be extended?'
Time out
TARL timeout occurs after 24 mins of inactivity. If your University's Single Sign On (SSO) time out is shorter, for example, 15 mins, it overrides the TARL time out, meaning the system times out after 15 mins of inactivity. Where the SSO is 60 mins time out, the TARL time out will trigger first after 24 mins. We have no plans to change this time out as it is a system-wide default, not per tenancy and maintains the security for the end user.
Please note those viewing lists will start to experience increased log in time on that area of the system as this uses our updated authentication solution. We are in the process of rolling this out across Talis Aspire Reading Lists.
Top Tip
We do recognise that you may be interrupted by other tasks while working your list. A tip that may help to extend your session is to use an auto-refresh tool on another tab signed into your TARL tenancy. This will maintain the login whilst you work in another tab in the same browser uninterrupted. The tool will depend on the browser you use.
This one is a Chrome app, but if you search Auto-Refresh in your browser of choice you may find other suitable alternatives.

REMEMBER to log out and close both tabs when you have finished your task.
