A key area of concern when managing rollover is the continued access to digitisations in order to cater for exams and resits whilst providing materials for the new intake to get started.
Below is a description and diagram to show how Talis Aspire Reading Lists (TARL) and Talis Aspire Digitised Content (TADC) all links together.
Each list could have requested digitisations linked, and each request has a bundle (coversheet and PDF scan).
You then rollover TARL at some point before the end of the current time period, you will complete the TARL rollover process (note: archiving at this point will have an impact to those taking resits). This process will create a copy of the published version of your reading list in your new time period (TARL List 15/16). Whilst the scan is still live when you rollover in TARL the scan will at this point be visible on both the current and the rolled over versions of the reading list (in this case 14/15 and 15/16).
Before the expiry of the original scan and after TARL rollover you will be wanting to start TADC rollover to ensure the bundle is viewable for a new time period. This new request is linked to the new version of the reading list only. The original request’s scan will continue to be available until it expires. Only when the Start date of the new rolled over request is reached will the new request’s bundle show live in the new reading list.
Finally, the old bundle reaches the expiry date, it will disappear from both lists. No digitisation will show in the old version of the list. The new request’s scan will then be accessible from the new list - this is dependant on the start date of the new request.
Let us know via support when you are looking to rollover and we will organise a call to go over this in detail and discuss options.
