Talis Aspire Digitised Content makes working with copyright cleared requests a breeze. But what if you have already invested time in getting content cleared for use and those requests exist in another system?
Talis can import requests from other systems into Talis Aspire Digitised Content for you as paid consultancy work.
What can I import?
You can import the request which has been copyright cleared and the associated scan.
Requests are the metadata about the resource being copied, the details of the copy and the scan is the PDF that is shared with students.
Talis will automatically replace existing cover sheets if your PDF files come with these included.
How many requests can I import?
There is no limit to the amount of requests that can be imported, tens of thousands of requests is fairly typical.
However, if there are less than one thousand requests to import, then it is usually not worth the effort to build the import dataset, and requests are best raised by hand. We had one university who used the requesting of their existing requests as a training exercise to both familiarise staff with workflow and to simulate 'peak demand' while they tested out their workflows. Note that even when you raise a request by hand the accompanying PDF can be submitted quickly and easily without having to rescan.
When to import?
You can import requests at any time.
If there are any annual reporting requirements of your copyright license then you may wish to import after the annual report has been completed. This is often a busy time of year.
How much does it cost?
