Introduction
In this webinar we heard from two guest speakers:
Kaye Towlson, Academic Team Manager, De Montfort University looked at the development, actions and achievements of decolonising work at De Montfort University with particular focus on work within the academic library. Decolonising DMU is a strategic project which works across DMU to establish an anti racist university where all can achieve. The four decolonising library workstreams were shared , and also looked at the work in the collection and decolonising of the reading list, staff pipelines, library spaces and raising awareness.
Edyta Krol, Subject Librarian, University of West London presented a case study of reading lists at which highlighted the outcomes of an audit of inclusive reading lists within the field of engineering. The presentation also explored how the library proactively engaged with academics to create guidelines enhancing the inclusivity of their reading lists.
