How to determine your reading list tenancy short code

You may sometimes need to know what your reading list tenancy short code is.  You will need this for many integrations with external non-Talis systems within the university.

Method 1 - Using HTTPS

If your tenancy does not automatically re-route you to HTTPS, then you can try one of the alternative methods.

  1. Go to your tenancy home page. This is the page with the single search box in the middle of the screen.
Hint: You can click the 'home' button in the navigation menu of a reading list to get there.
  2. Look at the URL of that page.  It will look something like this:
    https://broadminster.rl.talis.com/index.html
  3. The first part of the domain name before the 'rl' is your tenant short code. In this example it is 'broadminster'
    https://<tenantShortCode>.rl.talis.com/index.html
  4. Now you know! All done!

Method 2 - Using new list view

You may be using the new list view, and you can tell your tenancy short code from the new list view URL as follows:

  1. Go to any reading list in your tenancy.
  2. Look at the URL of that page.  It will look something like this:
    https://rl.talis.com/3/broadminster/lists/11DEDCB3-FD27-E2F2-19A2-DE04CA64651F.html
  3. The bit of the path immediately prior to the /lists/ part is the tenancy short code.
    https://rl.talis.com/3/<tenantShortCode>/lists/11DEDCB3-FD27-E2F2-19A2-DE04CA64651F.html
  4. Now you know! All done!
